Personal circumstances brought the fragility and preciousness of life home to me this week, with my dad very ill. I have been so grateful this week for the words of love and support I have received, not just from Christians I know, but also from work colleagues and residents at the YMCA. It reminds me that what is actually important is not what we own, but the relationships we have with each other. The media, at Christmas especially, would have us believe that money and possessions are the centre of all things, and that Christmas is about what we buy. But as we all know it is actually about a relationship: God coming to us out of love, enabling us to have relationship with Him. More than ever, let's make that the centre of our Christmas.
